Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is a flashy phone for a good price
Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Y2 Android Smartphone and as expected, the Y2 is a selfie-centric smartphone. The phone offers a quite amusing specifications and features flashy design.
Along with the Y2, the company also announced the MIUI 10 at the event. Notably, the Y2 is a Xiaomi answer to affordable and budgeted Smartphones competitors out there. Clearly, the Redmi Y2 is the successor to the early Redmi Y1 (S2) Smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Smartphone is definitely a device for mid-range affordable market. The Chinese company unveiled the Redmi Y2 with impressive specs and a fine finishing of shiny design on the front and back. It will be available in India in Elegant Gold, Rose Gold and Dark Grey color options.
Thankfully, it doesn’t arrives with the notch display but the bezels are a lot slimmer. It offers the trending 18:9 aspect ratio along with a tall 5.99-inch HD+ 2.5D curved glass display.
There is the fingerprint sensor on the back and it also supports the Face ID Unlock feature. The phone arrives with a dual camera setup like that of Redmi Note 5 Pro. Featuring a 12MP primary camera with 1.25μm pixel size, phase detection autofocus, f/2.2 aperture and a secondary 5MP camera.
Meanwhile on the front, it sports a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, AI portrait mode, AI Beautify 4.0 mode and an LED flash. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the company’s custom MIUI 9.5 skinned on top but with the recent launch of the MIUI 10, the company promises an upgrade sooner or later.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is powered by a 3,080mAh battery and connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and GPS.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 costs Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. In Nigeria, that is almost N54k for the 3GB RAM and N70k for 4GB RAM. Quite affordable with such amazing specs but Africa availability isn’t mentioned but later, you could be able to get the Redmi Y2 on any official online authorized store.
