Xiaomi Mi Reader has been unveiled in China with 6-Inch e-Ink screen, built-in light, USB Type-C port and sports anti-glare finish.
The Xiaomi Mi Reader is the company’s first e-book Reader, which is quite similar to what we all know, the Amazon Kindle.
Since, the company is entering this market for the first time, they have started a new category of mobile gadgets and it is priced at $82 per each Mi Reader.
The Mi Reader comes in white front with dark gray back color option, and it measures 159.2 x 116 x 8.3mm of dimension.
Xiaomi first Mi Reader, arrives with a 6-inch 1024 x 768 pixels, and e-Ink screen with 212PPI pixel density. It comes with a dual-tone design with thick white bezels and a dark rear panel.
It features a 24-level adjustable front-lit LED reading light, which provides comfortable reading in bright and dark light environment up to 90% plus brightness.
There is the anti-glare finish, and weighs 178 grams. This Mi Reader gives you the ultimate reading impressions that you are actually reading an eBook. After all, that is its main objective.
Xiaomi explained that the new Mi Reader supports a wide range of file formats .txt, .epub, .pdf and the whole suite of compatible WPS and Microsoft Office documents. It also supports Baidu cloud and multi-view cloud one-click login and download.
It also allows users to import their library from the cloud and seamlessly switch between reading on their phone to the Mi Reader.
For other specs and features, the Xiaomi Mi Reader is completely powered by Allwinner B300 Quad-core processor, which runs at 1.8GHz clock speed.
The Mi Reader runs on a customized layer of Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box, sports 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The company promised that it can store about 5000 e-books. Providing series of e-books to read and study!
Under the hood, the new e-book reader is fueled by a 1800mAh battery capacity, which is powered via a Type-C charger. As per the company, the battery can last up to several weeks on a single charge.
The Xiaomi Mi Reader costs around 579 yuan ($82 / ₦29,600 / Rs. 5,920) and will be available through Mi Crowdfunding starting from November 20th in China, while shipments begins from December 18.
We are still unsure if the Mi Reader will make its way out of China, the company hasn’t said anything yet. But after the crowdfunding, the price will be hiked up to CNY 599 ($85 / ₦30,200 / Rs. 6,100).
