Xiaomi officially adds Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro and Pro 5G to its Mi Pad series

    Xiaomi introduces its first tablets in three years – Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro with an 11-inch 2.5K 120Hz display, Dolby Vision, and comes with support for Dolby Atmos. The company recently announced the Mi Mix 4 flagship Smartphone.

    The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro does not appear as any tablet with mid-range specifications, but both Android-powered tablets can easily pass-out as one of the best tablet money can buy right now.

    Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 5 series sees the Mi Pad 5 in only the Wi-Fi-only variant, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro is offered both in Wi-Fi and a 5G-enabled version. In this sense, we have the Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 PRO, and the premium Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G.

    It might not be as impressive as another Android tablet out there, these tablets arrive with a 6.86mm sleek body panel. While both tablets are offered in Black and White color options, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 comes in an extra Green option.

    These tablets arrive with an 11” 2560x1600pixel WQXGA 16:10 display, HDR10 certified, TrueTone technology for adapting the colors and brightness to ambient light. It comes with support for Dolby Vision and promises up to 500 nits brightness.

    More especially, there is a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling on the display and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It sports Hardware-level blue light reduction and TUV Rheinland low blue light hardware scheme certification.

    Both are powered separately, the Mi Pad 5 is driven by 2.96GHz Snapdragon 860 with a 27067² cooling area with Adreno 640 GPU, and the 3.2GHz Snapdragon 870 SoC powers both Mi Pad 5 Pro and Pro 5GB version with 22745mm² cooling area with Adreno 650 GPU.

    You can find them available in 6GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB for the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G. The Mi Pad 5 weighs 511g and the Mi Pad 5 Pro weighs 515g, while the Mi 5 Pro 5G measures the same thickness, but weighs 518g.

    These Android tablets run Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 out of the box, which brings multi-screen support for over 300 apps, provided they are opened on a Xiaomi smartphone. There are four Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers on the standard model, two on top and two on the bottom.

    Mi Pad 5 Pro model has an eight-speaker surround sound system. However, identical to iPad Pro 11 and Galaxy Tab S7, these Android tablets support stylus that costs 349 yuan ($54 / NGN22,230 Nigerian Naira) and magnetic keyboard cover and accessories (does not come with the box).

    During the launch, Xiaomi announced the 399 yuan ($61.5 / NGN25,330 Nigerian Naira) keyboard protective case with 63 keys and independent ESC and task keys, with key travel of 1.2mm. There is nothing new on the keyboard, standard keyboard and will be offered in three colors with the Pad 5 colors.

    The Xiaomi stylus comes with two buttons on its side, has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, supports 240Hz touch sampling rate also weighs 12.2g. Similar to other stylus pen out there, it comes with its own has a battery life of more than 8 hours with fast charging in 18 minutes.

    For the optics, Xiaomi started the Mi Pad 5 with a smaller 13-megapixels shooter, upgrades to 13-megapixels on the Mi Pad 5 Pro Wi-Fi-only and climb up to 50-megapixels 1/2.5″ sensor, and additional 5-megapixels ultrawide unit. It supports 4K video recording.

    On the front is an 8-megapixels selfie shooter. The connectivity includes 5G SA / NSA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS. The 4G LTE is optional and upgraded Bluetooth 5.2 in the Mi Pad 5 Pro. It does not support NFC, but it doesn’t derail from being among the best out there.

    With different paint jobs, processors, a a few other distinctions, Xiaomi has one other differences up its sleeves – Battery. The Mi Pad 5 comes with 8,720mAh battery with 33W fast charging, which charges from 0 to 100% in 91minutes.

    The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro is offered with 8,600mAh battery and comes out as the fastest wireless fast charging in a tablet, thanks to the support for 67W fast charging, that charges from 0 to 100% in 67minutes.

    Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 6GB RAM + 128GB storage mode. is priced at 1999 yuan ($310 / NGN127,600 Nigerian Naira approx.) and the 6GB RAM + 256GB storage option costs 2299 yuan ($355 / NGN146,000 approx.). They are available in only Wi-Fi variant expect the lone 5G model.

    Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro 6GB RAM + 128GB storage costs 2499 yuan ($385 / NGN158,500 Nigerian Naira approx.). The 6GB RAM + 256GB storage goes for 2799 yuan (US$431 / NGN177,450 Nigerian Naira approx.).

    While the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G variant with 8GB RAM with 256GB storage costs 3499 yuan ($539 / NGN221, 940 approx.). There will go on sale in China starting from August 16th but there are already available for order.
