WhatsApp disappearing messages adds 24hours and 90days options

The instant messaging app, WhatsApp officially increases its time limit for one of the platform’s best features – Disappearing Messages. Right now, WhatsApp Disappearing Messages now adds two extra time limits – 24 hours and 90 days options.

WhatsApp disappearing messages were first announced around last year, allowing you to easily set a 7days time for messages to be deleted on both chats and groups. This feature has been available to other messaging apps, including other MOD WhatsApp.

During its introduction, the time frame was limited to only 7days of message deletion from both chats and groups. However, WhatsApp recently extended the time limit to either 24hours or 90 days.

From WhatsApp blog post, the company said “For people who choose to switch on default disappearing messages, we will display a message in your chats that tells people this is the default you’ve chosen. This makes clear it’s nothing personal – it’s a choice you’ve made about how you want to communicate with everyone on WhatsApp moving forward. Though of course, if you need a particular conversation to remain permanent, it’s easy to switch a chat back.”

Well, this is just an informational article, but you have already enabled the disappearing option, there is nothing else to do but to either change the time extension for the message to delete. However, here is the below steps to enable it on both iPhone and Android:

Go to WhatsApp Settings Tap Account > Privacy > Default message timer and select a duration – 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.

WhatsApp confirmed that users can still forward or take a screenshot of a disappearing message and save it before it disappears, and it doesn’t notify the users. The company also said that preview of the message might still be displayed in notifications until WhatsApp is opened.
