One of the biggest Smartphone makers, vivo made its S12 series official with a standard vivo S12 and a higher vivo S12 Pro. These devices are different from each other, starting from the display, selfie lens, chipsets, and battery but they are available in Black, Blue, and Warm Gold color options.
Both vivo S12 and vivo S12 Pro are available to order and will go on sale in China starting from December 30th, 2021. The Chinese Smartphone producer, vivo is offering the S12 starting from 2799 yuan ($439) and the vivo S12 PRO from 3399 yuan ($533).
However, both features 1080p screen resolution, Full HD+ AMOLED with HDR10+ certified and supports 90Hz refresh rate for smoother display scroll. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C audio. Both are powered by MediaTek Dimensity chipset.
They are also equipped with dual selfie cameras, with dual-LED flashes and the company said the flashes can be manually set up to any desired color between 3000K and 6000K. Both run Android 11 with Origin OS Ocean out of the box.
Both vivo S12 and vivo S12 Pro arrive with the same triple sensor on the back, a primary 108-megapixels f/1.88 lens with LED flash, 8-megapixels f/2.2 119° ultrawide sensor, and 2-megapixels f/2.4 macro camera.
These phones come with an extra 8-megapixels selfie 105° ultra-wide camera with f/2.28 aperture, and it supports dual-tone spotlight flash. These come with connectivity options such as 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS, and NFC support.
vivo S12 Pro
Unarguably, the vivo S12 Pro is the major phone handset among the duo, powered by 3GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI, a 6nm processor with ARM G77 MC9 GPU. It is fueled by a slightly bigger 4300mAh battery compared to S12, but with the same 44W fast charging tech.
It comes with a bigger 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED 19.8:9 aspect ratio screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 1300nits brightness. On the front is an f/2.0 50-megapixels autofocus front camera with a custom Samsung JNV sensor.
The vivo S12 Pro is 7.36mm thick and weighs 171g. The vivo S12 Pro 8GB RAM / 256GB storage version costs 3399 yuan ($533 / NGN219,150 Nigerian Naira approx.) and 12GB RAM / 256GB option goes for 3699 yuan ($580 / NGN238,480 Nigerian Naira approx.).
The standard version arrives with a 6.44-inch 1080p Full HD+ AMOLED 20:9 aspect ratio screen, 90Hz refresh rate with 180Hz touch sampling rate, and features 98% NTSC color gamut. It measures 7.39mm/7.55mm (Warm Gold) and weighs 179g/181g (Warm Gold).
It is powered by up to 2.6GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 1100 6nm processor with ARM G77 MC9 GPU for better graphic performance. The vivo S12 sports a 4200mAh battery with 44W fast charging support through USB Type-C.
Aside from the identical rear camera setup with the S12 Pro, and the additional 8MP selfie camera, the primary front-facing camera is the 44-megapixels autofocus front camera with an f/2.0 lens.
The vivo S12 8GB RAM / 256GB storage version costs 2799 yuan ($439 / NGN180,508 Nigerian Naira approx.) and 2999 yuan ($470 / NGN193,255 Nigerian Naira approx.) for the top-end 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.
