Are you on Twitter? You may need to change your password now!

It sounds so commanding but it is actually the truth. If you are on Twitter and among the 330 million users, then, you need to change your password right away. Twitter is among the top social networking website nationwide with best experience.

What actually raise the alarm is due to the fact that ‘a bug exposed them in plain text’ Anyways, Twitter isn’t forcing you to change your password anyway but because of the bug, your account isn’t safe with them anymore, in order for them to keep your account secured, you need to change your password, just to be on the safe side.

According to Twitter blog;

We mask passwords through a process called hashing using a function known as bcrypt, which replaces the actual password with a random set of numbers and letters that are stored in Twitter’s system. This allows our systems to validate your account credentials without revealing your password. This is an industry standard.

Due to a bug, passwords were written to an internal log before completing the hashing process. We found this error ourselves, removed the passwords, and are implementing plans to prevent this bug from happening again.

Not just only Twitter both on anywhere else you may have used that password, which includes third-party apps like Twitterrific and TweetDeck. Anyways, Twitter hasn’t refuted the advances of the bug, so that is the reason, they are asking the 330 million of users to change their passwords including President Donald Trump and other prominent men / women.

Of course, Twitter has fixed the bug. Twitter has also added a warning in its mobile apps recommending users change their passwords. To change your Password, visit Twitter setting page to do that and Twitter is recommending the use of Password manager to ensure, it is protected, strong and safe.
