Samsung announces Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 with fast refresh rate screens

    Samsung officially unveiled three of its next A-series phones: the Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 Smartphones. Featuring AMOLED Infinity-O Display with faster refresh rates, 64-megapixels quad rear cameras, and IP67 water-resistant body.

    The company launched its triple Smartphones, during its second event, Samsung global Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event and these devices will ship with a charging brick in the box. They all come with brighter screens and a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

    These are Samsung’s new mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones, but it all started off with entry-level devices, the Galaxy A32 and A02. The Samsung Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52 5G are totally identical to each other, while the Galaxy A72 arrived only as a 4G phone.

    Samsung Galaxy A72

    Samsung Galaxy A72 comes with a larger 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display with 1080 pixels resolution and features the standard 90Hz refresh rate with up to 800 nits brightness.

    It packs an in-display fingerprint scanner, 32-megapixels front camera with f/2.2 aperture, and sports a QUAD-camera setup on the rear. Featuring a primary f/1.8 64-megapixels with OIS, a secondary 8-megapixels telephoto lens with 3x zoom, 30x space zoom.

    Other camera includes 12-megapixels ultra-wide-angle camera and 5-megapixels macro camera. It arrives with a 3.5mm audio jack, Stereo speakers with sound by AKG, Dolby Atmos, and available in a Hybrid Dual SIM, featuring nano + nano / microSD support.

    Samsung Galaxy A72 camera

    It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 720G 8nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 618 GPU, paired with 6GB RAM with 128GB storage / 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, expandable up to 1TB through MicroSD card slot, and supports NFC, WiFi GPS, Bluetooth 5 and Dual 4G VoLTE.

    The 5,000mAh battery on the Galaxy A72 supports 25W fast charging through USB Type-C connectivity, the large battery helps offset the extra power draw of the larger display, probably, a 2-day battery life.

    On the other hand, there is the Galaxy A52 and A52 5G with 6.5-inch FHD+ 1080 pixels Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display with up to 800 nits brightness in bright sunlight, where the A52 support 90Hz refresh rate and the A52 5G will have with 120Hz screen.

    These Smartphones come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G will be available soon in Black, Violet, White, and Blue color options.

    Each device will feature a rear quad camera setup, a main 64-megapixel f/1.8 camera, a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide 5-megapixel macro, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and a 32-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera.

    The primary f/1.8 64-megapixels sensor has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Tetra-binning tech, which is Samsung’s name for Quad Bayer where four 0.8µm pixels are combined into one. The camera outputs 16MP binned photos in its default mode, but you can take full-resolution 64MP shots too.

    It comes with Night Mode that shoots 12 frames and combines them into one bright image with little noise. The OIS helps keeps things stable while Night Mode is doing its thing. The main camera can record 4K videos at 30 fps.

    Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G camera

    Powering up both phones is an 8nm chip, but the Galaxy A52 4G gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G 8nm with Adreno 618 GPU, while the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G gets a Snapdragon 750G 8nm with Adreno 619 GPU.

    It is available in 4GB / 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and it is still expandable up to 1TB via a MicroSD card slot. It supports Samsung Pay, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, and GPS + GLONASS.

    Both Galaxy A52 Smartphones pack a 4,500mAh battery with a 15W charger in the box, support a 25W charger which can charge from 0% to 50% in half an hour, and promises two days to use on a single charge too.

    These will ship with Android 11 and Samsung’s One UI 3.0 and are totally part of four years of security updates program by Samsung, and meet the hardware requirements to receive three generations of Android OS platform updates.

    For pricing, the company has not announced the costs, but the Samsung Galaxy A72 will be available soon, starting at €450/£420 and Galaxy A52 4G and A72 5G starts at RUB 27,000 ($415) / RUB 36,000 ($486) respectively through Samsung.com.
