RedMagic 6R gaming phone announced in China with 144Hz refresh rate

RedMagic introduces its latest gaming Smartphone – RedMagic 6R with AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh rate, 4200mAh battery,  64MP rear camera and powered by Snapdragon 888 5nm chipset with up to 12GB RAM.

During the announcement, RedMagic also introduced another stunning variant of the 6R, it is the Victorious Fighting Buddha Special Edition with Black and Yellow finish, which intentional matches themes and wallpaper.

However, it does come affordable but slightly above the price grade of others. You can get it at 3,999 yuan ($627) for 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version. When it goes on sale in China on June 1st, you will get a 300 yuan discount.

The RedMagic 6R runs RedMagic OS 4.0 based on Android 11 and comes with Stereo speakers for good sound quality. It features an in-display fingerprint sensor with Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz + 6GHz).

It comes with Bluetooth 5.1, GPS (L1/L5) + GLONASS, 5G NSA /SA and supports Dual 4G VoLTE. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 888 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU.

You can find the device in few memory configuration, there is the 6GB / 8GB / 12GB RAM with 128GB internal memory and 12GB RAM with 256GB internal memory. These uses the latest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

It packs a 6.67-inch Full HD+ 20:9 AMOLED screen with 770 nits peak brightness. The thickness is quite impressive at 7.8mm and weighs 186g. It is available in just two color options – Black and Silver.

Exceptionally, there is an adaptive refresh rate that can be switched between 30Hz / 60Hz / 90Hz / 120Hz and goes all the way up to 144Hz rate, all depending on what you are doing at the moment and conserve the battery life.

It has a 400Hz single finger touch sampling rate and a 360Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. Inside the waterdrop notch display is a 16-megapixels selfie snapper with f/1.8 lens.

Well, gaming phones aren’t that interesting with cameras but it can also come in handy during sometime. That’s why you get a QUAD camera setup at the back. The main camera is a 64-megapixels rear camera with Sony IMX682 sensor.

Others includes secondary 8-megapixels 120-degree ultra-wide lens, 5-megapixels macro camera, and 2-megapixels depth sensor. To boost the gaming features, it comes with 400Hz dual shoulder gaming triggers.

The RedMagic 6R packs a moderate 4200mAh battery with 55W fast charging through USB Type-C. However, the company mentioned that the global version will come with a smaller 30W fast charging technology.

RedMagic 6R Pricing

The Nubia RedMagic 6R starts at 2,999 yuan ($470) for the 6GB RAM option, goes up to 3,299 yuan ($517) for the 8GB RAM option. While the 12GB RAM costs 3,599 yuan ($564), all these arrives with 128GB storage option.

While the top-end variant, 12GB + 256GB storage version sets you back at 3,899 yuan ($611). Nubia mentioned that this phone alongside with the Victorious Fighting Buddha Special Edition will officially launch globally in June.

Where the RedMagic 6R will be available for pre-order globally starting from June 24th on RedMagic website. Starting from Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Latin America.

The RedMagic 6R global option will be priced at $499 / EUR 499 / GBP 429 for the 8GB + 128GB Cosmos color version, and $599 / EUR 599/ GBP 519 for the 12GB + 256GB in Mercury color. The countries includes:
