Although Nigerians are just getting started to enjoying the 4G LTE network but that does not stop the coming of 5G network which would be the fastest Network Worldwide.
Qualcomm just launched their first 5G modem. Meanwhile, Samsung Mobile has just promised us that they will launch the first phone to arrive with 5G network in 2017. And that is the Samsung Galaxy S8 Android Smartphone.
The New Qualcomm 5G modem is equipped with 5Gbps peak downloads, beam forming, and 800MHz of spectrum. Qualcomm is typically known as/for SoCs, CPU performance, and general market position in the Android ecosystem.
Few devices support LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) or LTE, while older hardware may only support 4G. We have been enjoying the launching of MTN, Etisalat, GLO 4G LTE Network but looking right through our eye, we now have the 5G Network coming to our way and guess what, we really can’t wait to feel the fastness.
One of the challenges facing 5G Network, no matter which spectrum is ultimately adopted, is the use of high frequency bands. The chart below shows how higher frequency signals attenuate when they pass through certain types of obstacles.
As the frequency rises, so does the signal loss over distance. 28GHz may avoid some of the problems with the 60GHz band, which can literally be attenuated by the presence of water molecules in the air, but it’s still a significant challenge.
Well, much said and few are more interesting. The Newsline is 5G would be arriving in Nigeria sooner or later. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for first tecno, infinix, innjoo phone to run Android 7.0 in Nigeria. Stay Updated!
