Introducing to you is the first mobile chipset to exceeds the 3GHz CPU clock speed, and also Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chip for gaming, it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus Mobile Platform.
Qualcomm also boasts that its latest chipset also offers 10 percent more power than the original Snapdragon 865 chip. However, the Snapdragon 865 Plus is just a refreshed version of the vanilla chip.
It is no different to what Qualcomm did with the slightly beefed up processor chipset, the Snapdragon 855 plus over the Snapdragon 855 chipset. The Snapdragon 855+ phone processor speed stops at 2.96GHz.
The Snapdragon 865 Plus packs an improved speed for the Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU Prime core clock speed, from the least 2.84GHz to 3.1GHz and for the Adreno 650 GPU, which Qualcomm says it is now capable of 10% faster graphics rendering compared to the Snapdragon 865 GPU.
With the Adreno 650 GPU offering 10% faster graphics rendering, it is safe to say that Qualcomm designed the S865+ as a gaming chipset. After all, it will be introduced into gaming-focused Android phones, like the Asus ROG Phone II, the Nubia Red Magic 3, and the Black Shark 2 Pro.
Another key improvement of Snapdragon 865 Plus is the 144Hz displays support, compatibility for Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900 connectivity suite, which the company says it supports Wi-Fi 6E, which works in the 6GHz band to provide Wi-Fi speeds up to 3.6Gbps.
Qualcomm has also integrated the Snapdragon X55 modem into the main chipset, this will save costs, save battery, and also less battery life impact. Also supports Bluetooth 5.2 with apt X Adaptive for 96 kHz audio and Dual Bluetooth Antenna.
However, the ISP Spectra 480 and DSP Hexagon 698 still remains intact. The Quick Charge 4.0+ with AI control is still in control. It also comes with True 10-bit HDR gaming and Snapdragon Elite Gaming premium features. We will be expecting the first Snapdragon 865 Plus phones starting in Q3, Qualcomm said.
