Phantom X is Tecno’s new sub-brand, Phantom’s first Smartphone. It is also the official and direct successor to the Phantom 9 that launched back in 2019.
With the introduction of the new sub-brand, Phantom, Tecno is planning on entering the top-high-end Smartphone industry. And of a truth, the Phantom X is a deserving device.
Before now, Tecno is randomly known for unveiling durable, portable, and affordable handsets. Most of the company’s series are Spark, Camon, Pouvoir, and POVA.
Although, most of its device line especially the Phantom series prices has surged up to N100k. But the Phantom X is the company’s highest expensive device of all time (as we know it).
For starters, the Phantom X’s most intriguing feature is the display to start with. It s not the 6.7-inch, not the dual punch-hole for selfie shooter.
We are actually talking about the 3D curved screen panel, it’ll be a good feeling to hold an affordable phone with a curved display panel that is neither Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, or Xiaomi.
In order to supplement the advantages, it sports a SuperAMOLED panel, 90Hz refresh rate with a 1080p+ resolution (19.5:9) aspect ratio. Not 120Hz but this is still good.
The company calls the screen a “3D Borderless Screen” with 70-degree curves around the edges of the device. This is definitely one of the best merits of premium phones.
The company also mentioned that it is the industry’s first silk glass back cover. Well, this will also add a touch of design delicacy to it.
Right after the curved display, the cameras are the next big things the company wants us know about. This is not about the triple rear camera lens but few camera features.
TECNO mentioned Full Pixel Dual-Core Focus + Laser Focus, AI Portrait Restoration, Film mode, video portrait mode and shoots 960fps slow motion.
Triple cameras arranged vertically at the center of the rear panel, the first is what the company is calling an Ultra-Night Camera, it is a 50-megapixels 1/1.3-inch Ultra-Large Sensor.
The company promises to shoot professional photos, and it comes with a wider ISO range and less noise, better exposure, and with a pixel size of 2.4μm in 4-in-1 mode.
While the remaining lenses are 8-megapixels 120 ultra-wide-angle micro spur camera and 13-megapixels 50mm professional portrait lenses with laser focus and support flashlight.
On the front is another 8-megapixels ultra-wide-angle selfie lens, 48-megapixels ultra-clear selfie camera and supports selfie flashlight. The Phantom X arrives with five cameras in total.
The company also mentioned other necessary features: Tecno calls it, Smart One-button Phone Cloner, which allows you to easily transfer everything within your old phone to a new one quickly.
Another is the Floating Chatter Box, which allows you to receive pop-up message notifications and reply without interrupting your current screen.
