OPPO introduces the new Reno lineup series, they are the OPPO Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G with a 90Hz OLED display, 65W charging, 64-megapixels quad rear cameras, and both runs on Android 11 OS.
As usual, both Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G are quite similar to each other, where the processor poses as the major differences. The new Reno5 series is the successor to the previous Reno4 lineup that was introduced back in June, this year.
The Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G smartphones are officially announced in China. OPPO confirmed that another major variant is coming up on the 24th of December, it is the Reno5 Pro+ 5G with Snapdragon 865 SoC and 65W super flash charge.
Both phones are available in 8GB RAM with 128GB and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. It uses LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage system. Running inside the phones is Google’s latest and updated Android 11 OS on top of ColorOS 11.1.
For the optics, both phones arrive with a reputable QUAD-rear camera setup, offering a primary f/1.7 64-megapixels camera sensor with electronic image stabilization (EIS) and LED Flash support.
It is supported by an 8-megapixels ultrawide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, 2-megapixels macro lens, and 2-megapixels mono portraits sensors with f/2.4 aperture.
Inside the hole-punch is a 32-megapixels front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture and supports for Face recognition unlock. Video recording is capped at 30 fps when shooting in 4K resolution on both phones.
Both phones support Dual SIM, Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, and GPS. The Reno5 PRO 5G is a little bit advanced using Wi-Fi 6 and NFC and it uses USB Type-C Audio instead, where the basic model uses a 3.5mm audio jack, and Wi-Fi 5.
OPPO added some real changes to the designs of both phones, which is a Reno Glow finish reworked with a fingerprint-resistant surface. The glass is more pronounced in a pattern of microscopic pyramids, and also added a fluorescent coating to the camera bump to glow in the dark.
On the front of OPPO Reno5 5G is a 6.43-inch 1080 pixels Full HD+ 2.5D 90Hz OLED display, 91.7% screen-to-body ratio, in-display fingerprint sensor and comes in Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Glitter Blue color options.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 7nm EUV Mobile Platform with an Octa-Core 6x 1.8GHz Kryo 475 CPUs, and Adreno 620 GPU. To keep the lights on is a 4300mAh battery.
While the OPPO Reno5 PRO 5G arrives with a 6.55-inch Full HD+ 3D OLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate and 92.1% screen-to-body ratio, in-display fingerprint scanner, and it comes in Glitter Blue, Aurora Blue, Midnight Black color options.
It is powered by a MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ 7nm processor, Octa-Core 4× A77 2.6GHz, and 4× A55 2.0GHz with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. They are fueled by a 4300mAh battery and can charge their batteries with 65W Super Flash Charge (SuperVOOC 2.0) fast charging via USB Type-C.
They can also use USB Power Delivery and QuickCharge chargers at 18W, reverse charging is supported as well. The Reno5 Pro 5G 8GB RAM with 128GB costs 3399 yuan ($519) and 3799 yuan ($580) for the 12GB RAM with 256GB option.
On the other hand, the OPPO Reno5 5G 8GB RAM with 128GB storage goes for 2699 yuan ($412) and the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage is priced at 2999 yuan ($458). Starting from December 18th, these phones will be available for order from JD.com.
However, the company also mentioned that the Reno5 Pro 5G New Year Edition in Red will be available 11days later after the normal release in the same month, which is the 29th of December.
