nubia RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro launched with an AMOLED screen

With Qualcomm’s latest chipset, Snapdragon 888 SoC, and partnered with Tencent Games, Nubia launches its premium gaming Smartphone – RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro with an AMOLED screen, which refreshes at 165Hz and runs on Android 11 OS.

The RedMagic 6 PRO comes with aggressive features that’ll satisfy the wailing needs of a gamer, and these phones are the first Smartphones to launch with 165Hz refresh rate screens. Both handsets are quite different from each other.

Most importantly is the screens, the RedMagic 6 series arrives with a 6.8-inch 1080 pixels Full HD+ 20:9 AMOLED display with 165Hz adaptive refresh rate. It does the 10bit 1.07 billion colors, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and up to 630 nits brightness.

These have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.28% and sports the 6th generation biometric fingerprint sensor under the display unlocks 50% faster compared to the last generation.

The screen drops to 30Hz when it is not showing dynamic content, but it can quickly scale up to 120Hz in menus or apps and up to 165Hz in supported game titles. Also, the screen supports a 360Hz multi-touch sampling rate with Touch Choreographer and up to 500Hz one-finger touch sampling rate.

With Touch Choreographer, the display will intelligently choose a preferable adaptive technology that selects the most accurate refresh rate between 60Hz/90Hz/120Hz/165Hz based on your activity, resulting in a more comfortable visual experience and saving battery power.

One of the RedMagic signatures is still available, it is the touch-sensitive shoulder triggers with support for 400Hz touch sampling rate which minimizes input latency.

The company said the response time is as low as 8ms, which makes the device extremely responsive, enabling players to hit and play faster and more accurately. With lower response time, the gaming session will definitely increase rapidly.

For the first time, these handsets use the CPHY-DSI Technology in the industry that increases the transmission rate for high-quality images by twice as much as before and uses 20-50% less power.

There is still the active cooling air fan that helps keep the thermals in their normal condition but now spins at up to 18,000 RPM on the Red Magic 6 and 20,000 RPM on the Pro. These smartphones come with several copper heat sinks that further boost cooling.

The phones have 400Hz Dual Pro Shoulder Triggers and a Classic gaming aesthetic design with an RGB light strip. RedMagic 6 series uses the new ICE 6.0 Multi-dimensional Cooling System with a built-in turbofan, while the RedMagic 6 Pro adopts an aero-grade heat dissipation ice blade design.

The RedMagic 6 comes in Black and Pulse color options, and the RedMagic 6 Pro comes in Black and Silver options. It measures 6.89mm thickness and weighs 220g.

Both Smartphones are powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 888 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU and uses UFS 3.1 storage with LPDDR5 RAM. The RedMagic 6 lineup offers 8GB / 12GB / 16GB with 128GB / 256GB internal memory.

While the Red Magic 6 Pro Transparent Edition comes with a whopping 18GB RAM and 512GB storage. They all run on Android 11 with Redmagic OS 4.0, featuring a 3.5mm audio jack, Stereo speakers, Dual Smart PA, and offers 3 mics.

For the optics, both handsets come with a triple rear camera that is the lineup vertically, offering a primary 64-megapixels lens, 8-megapixels 120-degree ultra-wide lens, and 2-megapixels macro camera. On the front is an 8-megapixels camera sensor.

The connectivity options include 5G NSA /SA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS ( L1/L5)+, and GLONASS. Both mobile phones draw their power from the trending USB Type-C.

On the RedMagic 6, nubia is offering a 5,050mAh battery with 65W fast charging support that promises a full top-up in 38 minutes. While the RedMagic 6 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh with 120W charging support that promises a 0 – 50% charge in just 5 minutes.

The nubia Red Magic 6 8GB/128GB option costs CNY 3,799 ($587), the 12GB/128GB version goes for CNY 4,099 ($634) and the 12GB RAM / 256GBs storage variant is priced at CNY 4,399 ($680).

On the other hand, there is the Red Magic 6 Pro that also offers three option, 12GB/128GB for CNY 4,399 ($680), 12GB/256GB for (CNY 4,799), and the premium version, 16GB RAM and 256GB storage set you back to CNY 5,299 ($819).

And there is the Transparent Edition that offers 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, which sells for CNY 5,599 ($865), and the top-end 18GB RAM and 512GB storage version goes for CNY 6,599 ($1,020).

The company also mentioned the Dual-core Ice Dock with dual fans and dual semiconductors for improved cooling, RGB lights, and wing-shaped design, for 179 yuan ($27). Both phones and accessories’ first sales are scheduled for March 11 but you can pre-order in China and March 16th is the global version launch.
