Please Ban Whatsapp Now – MTN NG Pleads Nigeria Government

Is this for real? After fighting the Increase in Data Price? Tax to all calls longer than 3Min? Anti-social network bills? Now, we are once more drawn to another stir from MTN Nigeria.

According to the recent news, MTN Nigeria wants our Government to ban Whatsapp Right now! Meanwhile, I learnt that the reason behind it is that, the whatsapp of a thing is draining their data and is some way, it is also affecting their services.

Well, we all know Nigerians, they couldn’t wait to publish it once more on Change.org! A petition has begun that Nigeria Government shouldn’t listen to MTN concerning banning our beloved Whatsapp in Nigeria.

Although, this news fascinated me on sighting it. But how in the world is Whatsapp affecting them and their service? Okay, if it is truly affecting them, why don’t they withdraw and leave whatsapp alone.

This is the News:

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Ferdinand Moolman, disclosed that the activities of ‘over-the-top’ companies like WhatsApp, Viber have adverse effects on its business and affects the sustainability of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

… the MTN boss pointed out that these companies were eroding gains of Nigeria’s telecom companies and asked Nigeria to take action like the United Arab Emirates did.

Yes, they should stop all service to whatsapp. They should block all MTN line from accessing Whatsapp with their data bundle. Well, what is your say on this? To me, Nigeria should not BAN whatsapp! Atleast, each and everyone of us is using it! Please Sign the petition. It just begun few minutes ago.

  1. Please, MTN can disconnect data access to whatsapp but whatsapp cannot generally be banned from the whole country, after all, whatsapp calls are free and fair and we pay so low, especially in this recession. We cannot begin to undermine the good whatsapp has done for us over the years and to start despising it for some ambiguously stated reasons. Thank you.

  2. Charity begins from home. MTN should persuade south African government to ban wasapp in their home country first which is south Africa. Communication should be the cheapest for now in our country Nigeria.
