Microsoft introduces its latest Laptop device, it is the company’s new $549 Surface Laptop Go that will compete with the Chromebooks market and the Surface Pro X with an SQ2 processor and 15-hour battery life that is priced at $1499.99.
The Surface Laptop Go pricing starts at $549.99 for 4GB/ 64GB storage (eMMC) version, $699.99 for the 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD version and $899.99 for the 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD version. There are also Commercial editions with Windows 10 Pro.
Surface laptop go will start shipping on October 13th, while the Microsoft Surface Pro X 16GB RAM with 256GB storage costs $1499.99, and $1799.99 for the 512GB storage version, you can pre-order the device right now on Microsoft.com.
Alongside the launch, Microsoft also announced new Surface accessories today, a $69.99 Designer Compact Keyboard, a $69.99 4K Wireless Display Adapter that helps project Windows devices onto bigger screens, and a $24.99 Microsoft Number Pad that gives you the option of a number pad.
With the new Surface Laptop Go in the market, it boasts of smaller, lighter, and less powerful features when compared to the company’s more premium devices and it is one of the most economically-priced Surface devices yet.
Inside the Surface Laptop Go device is something writing home about. Instead of the Surface Go‘s Intel Pentium Gold processor, Microsoft used a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 (1035G1) offering a quad-core chip.
Although this is not the latest 11th Gen Intel processors, it will definitely do the job well. It is available in 4GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB eMMC, and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB / 256GB SSD. These are definitely boring memory features for 2020 Laptops.
Unlike the Surface Laptop 3 with 13.5-inch, Microsoft is using a smaller 12.4-inch touchscreen PixelSense Display with 1536 x 1024 resolution, and a 3:2 aspect ratio which offers screen quality more than standard 720p HD.
Well, the minimal frame around the Surface Go doesn’t only make the device slimmer, but also lighter at 790g (2.45 pounds). Also added are a large precision trackpad and a full-size keyboard with 1.3mm key travel.
It promises up to 13 hours of battery life with Fast Charging that claims to top the battery up to 80% in an hour and offers Fingerprint Power Button with One Touch sign-in through Windows Hello in some selected models, where the base model, i5/4GB/64GB lacks this feature.
Other features include the 720p HD f/2.0 aperture front-facing camera without support for face recognition through Windows Hello. There are Omnisonic Speakers with Dolby Audio, Dual far-field Studio Mics, and runs on Windows 10 Home in S Mode.
Unlike other latest Laptops in the market, Microsoft only opted for one USB-C and one regular USB-A port on the Surface Laptop Go, alongside a headphone jack and Surface Connect charging port. It comes in Ice Blue, Sandstone, and Platinum color options, and support an Ambient light sensor.
On the other hand, there is the Microsoft new refresh for the thin-and-light device that was released last year, the Surface Pro X with ARM-based computing, this is the new Surface Pro X that boasts of 15-hour battery life.
The new Surface Pro X arrives with the company’s SQ2 processor with Adreno 690 GPU, and comes in an 8GB or 16GB LPDDR4x RAM, with 128, 256, or 512GB removable solid-state drive (SSD) options.
It sports a 13” PixelSense™ Display with 2880 × 1920 resolution, 267 PPI, 3:2 aspect ratio with 10 points multi-touch support. It weighs 774gms with signature anodized aluminum with carbon composite fanless thermal cooling casing.
As expected, it comes with Volume, Power physical buttons, and available in both Matte Black and Platinum color options. It comes with 5-megapixels front-facing camera with 1080p full HD video and supports Hello face sign-in.
The new Surface Pro X sports a 10-megapixels rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p HD and 4k video. It runs on Windows 10 Home on ARM with Microsoft 365 Family 30-day trial.
Other features include Dual far-field Studio Mics, 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio sound, and security features such as Firmware TPM chip for enterprise security and BitLocker support and Enterprise-grade protection with Windows.
The connectivity options include the following: Wi-Fi 5: 802.11ac compatible, Bluetooth Wireless 5.0 technology, Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 LTE modem, Up to Gigabit LTE Advanced Pro3 with nanoSIM and eSIM support, and assisted GPS and GLONASS support.
