MediaTek Dimensity 900 6nm chipset announced with a faster CPU

The Taiwanese chip company, MediaTek announces its latest chipset for mid-range smartphones with support for a 5G modem – MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor, it uses the same TSMC’s 6nm process technology as Dimensity 1000 and 1200.

While bearing some identical features to the Dimensity 1000 series, it comes with a faster CPU and better connectivity options as part of its improved specifications over the Dimensity 800 series.

The MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset comes with an octa-core CPU with support for two ARM Cortex-A78 processors with a clock speed of up to 2.4GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 2GHz.

For its GPU, the Dimensity 900 features Arm Mali-G68 MC4 graphics processing unit (GPU), the latest memory standards such as LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage along with an independent artificial intelligence (AI) processing unit (APU).

The connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, 5G New Radio (NR) sub-6GHz modem with carrier aggregation, True Dual SIM 5G (5G SA + 5G SA), and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and support for bandwidth up to 120MHz.

And the chipset supports cameras of up to 108MP resolution and comes with MediaTek’s AI processing unit 3rd gen that supports a wide variety of AI applications and 4K high definition resolution (HDR).

The chipset arrives with various key features from the company, such as MediaTek’s Imagiq 5.0, an HDR-native image signal processor (ISP) and incorporates a unique hardware-accelerated 4K HDR video recording engine.

Another is MediaTek’s MiraVision, which packs upgraded video capabilities from a standard dynamic range (SDR) to HDR with real-time enhancements of HDR10+ video playback to improve color and contrast of content.

Lastly, there is the Premium AI-Camera Enhancements, which brings support for up to 108MP cameras with 32M at 30fps and multi-camera options such as 20+20MP.
