HUAWEI introduces the fifth member of its Mate 40 series, this is the HUAWEI Mate 40E 5G with a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED screen, 90Hz refresh rate, 64-megapixels triple rear cameras, and it is powered by Kirin 990E with 8GB of RAM.
For remembrance purposes, the Mate 40 series includes four smartphones – Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. But with the addition of the Mate 40E 5G, the series sees its top-end, premium, mid-range varieties of Smartphones.
The Huawei Mate 40E 5G comes in two memory configurations, there is the 8GB RAM / 128GBs storage that costs CNY4,599 ($705/€595), and the premium 8GB RAM / 256GB storage that goes for CNY5,099 ($785/€660).
Inside the Mate 40E 5G’s 6.5″ FullHD+ 90Hz curved OLED screen with a 240Hz touch sampling rate is the in-screen fingerprint scanner that unlocks a little bit fast, and it comes in Mystic Silver, White, and Black color options.
At the top-left of the display is a camera cut-out that houses the f/2.4 13-megapixels lens. Around the back is a circular camera mansion that houses the primary f/1.9 64-megapixels with Leica optics.
In addition, there is the 8-megapixels telephoto sensor with a 3x optical zoom and 16-megapixels ultrawide sensor. You can possibly take macro shots of objects from as close as 2.5cm, and there is the laser focus sensor.
These cameras support OIS and LED flash. With the LEICA branding at the center of the camera module, this honors the company’s partnership with the German camera company.
It supports NFC, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, IP53 rating, 5G support, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6+, dual-band GPS, air gestures, stereo speakers, and Dual 4G VoLTE.
The Smartphone is thick at 8.8mm and weighs 188g. It is powered by HUAWEI Kirin 990E 5G with Dual 2x Cortex-A76 clocking at Cortex-A76, comes with ARM Mali-G76 GPU and Big Core + Tiny Core NPUs.
It is available in 8GB of RAM with either 128GB / 256GB storage, and it is expandable but up to 256GB through NM memory card support, and it runs on Android 10 OS with EMUI 11 out of the box.
The HUAWEI Mate 40E 5G packs a 4,200mAh battery capacity that charges through a USB-C port at up to 40W, it also supports 40W wireless charging and reverses wireless charging.
It will go on sale in China starting from March 18th with pre-orders starting from today March 10th. HUAWEI also introduced an 8GB/256GB version of Mate 40 RS Porsche Design Edition CNY10,999 ($1,690/€1,420) and will be available for order in China starting March 18.
