Introducing to you is HONOR’s latest top-end smartphone in the V series, – the HONOR V40 5G with a new 50-megapixels camera, and features an OLED with curved sides with a Dimensity 1000+ chipset powering the device.
During the event in China, HONOR also introduces new Intel-powered versions of its Honor MagicBook 14 and MagicBook 15 with an 11th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with an Nvidia GeForce MX450 graphics card. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 with a 2X2 MIMO dual-antenna design for wireless speeds up to 2400 Mbps.
The HONOR V40 5G is the company’s first since the company officially separated from HUAWEI. It was unveiled in its home market, China, and may or may not feature Google Services, after all, phones ship without those anyway.
On the front is a 6.72-inch FHD+ OLED 80° curved waterfall screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate and boasts of a 93.2% screen-to-body ratio. The panel supports a resolution of 2676 x 1236 pixels with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
There is a pill-shaped punch hole for the dual selfie cameras, it is the primary 16-megapixels front camera with support for an additional ToF sensor. Around the back is a triple camera setup inside its own island.
It features a primary 50-megapixel 1/1.56″ RYYB main camera with 4-in-1 pixel binning that is equivalent to 2.0μm pixels, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera along with laser autofocus for close-up shots and it is right next to the single LED flash.
HONOR used glossy and matte AG glass finish design on its V40 5G, and it offers a more premium ultimate finish. It arrives in Titanium Silver, Midnight Black, and Rose gold color options.
The new mobile handset is powered by a MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ 7nm processor using an Octa-core 4× A77 2.6GHz + 4×A55 2.0GHz with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. It is available in 8GB RAM with either 128GB / 256GB internal storage.
It runs on Google’s Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s skin Magic UI 4.0 on top. There is support for Dual SIM, nano + nano, USB Type-C Audio, Stereo speakers, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS.
The 4000mAh battery keeps the light on with support for 66W wired charging through USB Type-C. Allowing you to charge your device from 0 to 100% in 35 minutes. Fortunately, there is support for wireless charging too, at 50W, you can see a 50% charge in 35 minutes.
The HONOR V40 5G 8GB RAM with 128GB storage option costs 3599 yuan ($556 USD) and the 256GB storage version goes for 3999 yuan ($618 USD). You can order the handset in China right away, but there was no word whether the phone would have Google Services because the event was in China.
