Honor Magic 3 series announced with 6.76-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved OLED display

Introducing the HONOR Magic 3, Magic 3 Pro and Magic 3 Pro+ with 6.76-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved OLED display. The Honor Magic 3 is the company’s first flagship Smartphones after it became a separate brand from Huawei.

With an aggressive curved around the side, the Honor Magic 3 series offers one of the best Smartphones out there. It sports a 6.76-inch 1344p OLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 colour gamut, HDR10+, 1.07 billion colors, and 4096 brightness levels.

Huawei Magic 3 Pro+ display features a Nano Crystal Shield coating for extra shatter resistance, and features ceramic back panel. While the Magic 3 and Magic 3 Pro comes with glass back and leather back versions each.

It comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and these runs Android 11 with Magic UI 5.0 out of the box. Although, there is a possibility that the Magic 3 series might launch out of China, globally with Google’s apps and services, following Huawei’s ban separation.

With Huawei’s ongoing ban in the US, it denies collaboration with Google. But Honor’s separation from the company allows it to partner with Google, and this might increases Honor presence outside China where Huawei’s own services and AppGallery to download software are everywhere.

Well, there are series of differences. Aside from the design, the chipsets driving this phones consists of different options also. The Magic 3 Pro and Pro Plus are powered by Qualcomm’s 5nm Snapdragon 888 Plus, while the standard Magic 3 has a Snapdragon 888 chips.

These are coupled with Adreno 660 GPU for better graphic performance, and comes in different variant. The Magic 3 comes in 8GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage, while the Pro is offered in 8GB/12GB RAM with 256GB/512GB storage. And the Pro+ in 12GB RAM / 512GB storage.

These uses LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Unfortunately, there is no option for microSD card expansion and it features USB Type-C audio, Stereo speakers and these supports water-resistance, IP68 rating for Magic 3 Pro/Pro+ and IP54 rating for the standard Magic 3.

In additions to the differences, the camera between these phones are totally changed. Where the Magic 3 comes with a triple rear camera, offering a 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch main camera, a 13-megapixel 1/1.31-inch ultrawide, and a 64-megapixel monochrome camera, laser auto focus.

The Honor Magic 3 Pro only differences is the added 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch sensor, 3.5x optical zoom, and OIS. Meanwhile, the Magic 3’s 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, 13MP ultrawide camera, and 64MP monochrome camera remains intact.

Finally, the Magic 3 Pro Plus increases the size of the main 50-megapixel sensor to 1/1.28-inches, Sony IMX700 sensor and 64-megapixels ultrawide sensor, Macro option, instead of the 13MP on the Magic 3 and Magic 3 Pro. While the rest remains the same.

These feature an HONOR Image Engine for unified image style across chip platforms, and comes with the new Magic Log, which has 10-bit color depth and customized movie-style 3D LUTs, and supports AI video recommendation. It comes with 13MP selfie camera and 3D Depth Sensing ToF Camera.

The Magic 3 Pro Plus is 9.4mm thick, weighs 236g and these feature three microphones, support true wireless headset pickup. Connectivity includes 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual-band), NFC, and USB 3.1 Type-C (GEN1).

Honor Magic 3 series has 4,600mAh battery capacity and supports wired fast-charging up to 66W, and 50W wireless charging with support for reverse wireless charging on the Magic 3 Pro and Pro Plus.

The HONOR Magic 3 comes in Blue Hour, Golden Hour, White and Black colors, the Magic 3 Pro in Black, White and Golden Hour colors and the Magic 3 Pro Plus comes in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White color options.

Honor magic 3 series pricing

Honor Magic 3 8GB/128GB model costs 4599 yuan ($709 / NGN292,108 Nigerian Naira approx.), the 8GB/256GB version costs 4999 yuan ($771 / NGN317,652 Nigerian Naira approx.). While the Magic 3 Pro 8GB/256GB costs 5999 yuan ($925 / NGN381,100 Nigerian Naira).

Magic 3 Pro 12GB/512GB version costs 6799 yuan ($1,049 / NGN432,188 Nigerian Naira approx.). HONOR Magic 3 Pro Pro single 12GB/512GB version is priced at 7999 yuan ($1234 / NGN508,408 Nigerian Naira approx.).

These are available for order right now, and will go on sale in China starting from August 20th. While Honor affirmed the global prices of these phones:

However, the company has not mentioned any statement about the global roll-out yet. For Nigerians, these prices are approximate to the China value at the moment, and the prices may tend to differs when it comes to the country.
