In an attempt to challenge Youtube dominant, the social media giant, Facebook, has added official music videos to its service for desktop, iOS, and Android in the US, Thailand, India.
Facebook partnered with major music companies including Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. On the service, there is exclusive content from some artists, such as J. Balvin, Karol G, Sebastian Yatra, and more.
While in India, Facebook partnered with T -Series Music, Zee Music Company, and Yash Raj Films. To find it, users can access official music videos on their News Feed, Groups, or Messenger.
Facebook Watch is pioneering this particular service, as the videos can be found there, and via individual artists’ pages also. Similar to other Facebook videos, they can be shared by genre, artist, mood, they can be reacted to, or commented on.
The company also confirmed that a new official music video from Lele Pons will exclusively premiere on Facebook, and will have an exclusive video from Panamanian R&B singer Sech.
Similar to Facebook gaming, there is a new Music tab in Facebook Watch where users can view music videos by genre, artist or mood and even access themed playlists. The company might start personalizing the music shown based on the user’s engagement.
It is quite obvious that Facebook’s sudden interest comes with the more lucrative advertising rates associated with the video. The Official Music Videos and the Music tab in Facebook Watch are available right now, on Facebook for the desktop, iOS, and Android.
