Black Shark 5, Shark 5 RS, and Black Shark 5 Pro officially unveiled

Black Shark 5 generation was officially unveiled on the last day of March, the new generation brings new three models – Black Shark 5 Pro, Black Shark 5 RS, and the normal Black Shark 5. There are slightly different from each other, powered by different processors.

These mobile phones feature a 144Hz 6.7-inch FHD+ flat OLED screen, but the Pro model uses a 10-bit screen from China Star Optoelectronics. These are available to order and will go on sale in China from April 2nd.

It is available in three memory configurations – 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and 16GB RAM with 512GB storage, and there are priced at 4199 yuan ($661), 4699 yuan ($740), and 5499 yuan ($866) respectively.

The Shark 5 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s fastest and latest processor – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5nm chipset with Adreno next-gen GPU for enhanced graphics performance. It packs a moderate 4,650mAh dual-cell battery and supports 120W fast charging through a USB Type-C connector.

The Shark 5 Pro chips are kept cool by two vapor chambers, one on each side (4,323 mm² + 997 mm²). Thanks to the in-built “anti-gravity” dual VC liquid cooling system that suppresses heat, and also enhances the ability of liquids to “upstream”.

It is the top premium of the top three and packs a 6.67-inch 1080p Full HD+ AMOLED 20:9 display with a 144Hz high refresh rate with 10-bit support, DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR 10+ certified with 720Hz touch sampling, and up to 1300nits peak brightness.

The Shark 5 Pro comes with a magnetic shoulder button that pops up on the side of the phone and uses a gaming-grade microswitch. There all run Android 12 based JoyUI 13, 9.5mm thick, and features an X-axis linear motor for better haptic feedback.

It arrives with a primary 108-megapixels f/1.75 sensor, 13-megapixels ultra-wide-angle camera (120°), and a 5-megapixels telephoto macro lens, which focuses at a 3-7 cm distance. Inside the punch-hole is the 16-megapixels selfie snapper.

The Black Shark 5 Pro arrives with four microphones that are perfectly arranged on each of the four sides of the phone, allowing it to pick up your voice clearly, and features two symmetrical speakers with 1.5 cc cavities.

Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 RS

Featuring the same screen display, both are available in 8GB / 12GB with 256GB, but the Black Shark 5 comes in an extra 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. There both run Android 12 based JoyUI 13 and comes with Dual SIM support.

These pack a primary 64-megapixels f/1.79 sensor, and 2-megapixels macro sensor, but the ultra-wide-angle camera is different, 13-megapixels on the Black Shark 5 and 8-megapixels on the Shark 5 RS. These phones come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Shark 5 is powered by Snapdragon 870 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 650 GPU, and the Shark 5 RS is driven by either Snapdragon 888 / 888 Plus 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU.

Identical to the Pro’s 4,650mAh dual-cell, the Shark 5 still uses the same battery format with 120W fast charging, and the Shark 5 RS comes with a 4,500mAh battery with the same 120W fast charging and uses the same dual-cell, and dual-charge-pump.

While the Shark 5 and Shark 5 Pro use an X-axis motor, the Shark 5 RS has a Z-axis linear motor, is 9.9mm thick, and weighs 220g. While the Shark 5 is 10mm thick and weighs 218g. These Smartphones use Stereo speakers.

While the Black Shark 5 RS powered with Snapdragon 888 chipset starts at 3299 yuan ($519) for the 8GB RAM / 256GB storage option, and Snapdragon 888+ model with 12GB RAM / 256GB storage goes for 3799 yuan​​​ ($598).

The Black Shark 5 starts at 2799 yuan ($440) for the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage variant, 12GB/128GB is priced at 2999 yuan ($472), and 12GB RAM / 256GB storage model goes for 3299 yuan ($519). These phones will go on sale in China from April 2nd.
